I am not a cynic when it comes to media coverage. Let me be clear at the very outset.
Ample TV space, internet news, and print is being devoted everyday to the infamous twin killings in Noida of a fourteen year old girl, and a domestic help.
As much of an outsider, I don't want to sound accusatory, but be it Scarlett Keeling or Aarushi, the coverage has been non-stop, with the former of course, cooled off now.
If I were to say which is the best way to approach a crime, it should be less of drama, more emphasis on coverage rather than tickers on 'MURDER', image of blood splattered, or incessant coverage of Scarlett's bruised body, there should be refrain practiced somewhere.
With too many channels warring for viewership, and reporters running all around for newer angles, contrarion approaches, it's difficult to follow the barrage of information thrown around.
There are hundreds of killings, honour or otherwise, in this country.
Prejudices are the most commonly found motives in crimes committed.
Innumerable debates and analysis, still fail to deliver reality it seems. It's more of whodunnit is over, so let's get on with who-said-to-whom and why.
Pitiable as it seems, it's a big business making strategy with each channel outdoing the other with more gore, whodunnit angles, keeping the prime time alive.
For us, readers, what is more important? To be cued on with the step by step murder, until verdict. Seems fair enough, but with Scarlett case still looking to be a recent failure, it looks like things will take labrythine turns before some truth gets told.

news is where reality tv has moved now. tittilation sells, which is the market dynamic which drives it all. whose fault is it? the audiences who lap it all up? who glue themselves to their sets every night, eager for thier dose of sexuality and gore? craving to find out what goes on inside the neighbours' closed doors. (isnt it ironical we pretend to dislike porn) Or the media channels, knowing that gore sells best, dish out the goriest gore.
is it a fault at all? i think its just what were like. its just for a person with sensibility to feel a little sick in the stomach.
